After a long hike to reach the 49 Palms Oasis in Joshua Tree Nat'l Park, I decided to relax on a rock in this beautiful shaded area. As I layed down, I looked up and saw this composition. Out came the camera.
Here are a couple more photos from the oasis. The one directly below I show because it's so disturbing. It really bothers me when people deface beautiful things. You can see all the carvings in the tree; it's just so useless and destructive of the natural look of God's beauty. In addition, you can see how the trunk has been burned. Apparently, this oasis caught on fire due to an illegal campfire some years ago. Fortunately, palm trees are very hardy and they survived.
