Alien Landscape

Out exploring the tide pools in the lava cliffs at Cape Maeda during sunset.  OUCH!  These rocks are sharp and I wasn't wearing my hiking boots this time; I was wearing water shoes.

Canon 7D with Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 lens sitting on a tripod. Used manual focus using the DSLR screen zooming into the rocks to get the sharpest focus. Extensively processed in Lightroom and Photoshop. Used two exposures and manually blended the sky with the rocks.

The above photo was taken about 40 feet above the water at the time.  The one below was a little further down and required some very careful clamoring down very sharp rocks.  If you're paying attention, you can see the one below was taken earlier when the sun was still a bit higher in the sky and I was able to get the sunstar effect through the rocks.

Canon 7D with Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 lens on a tripod akwardly placed on the edge of a large drop down to this pool. Lightly processed in Lightroom only.
